Story Up: The Liar

I’ve been on the road for the past few weeks, and so haven’t had a chance to make an official post: My North Country New Hampshire fantasy novella The Liar is out in the current issue of F&SF!

If you’re a subscriber, you’ve got it already. If not, the roundup here has some ways to order a copy online, and of course there’s always your friendly newsstand (my local Barnes & Noble has it).

Reception has been positive so far, with nice reviews in Amazing Stories, Tangent Online, and other sites. If you like it (or any of the other stories) and feel like adding your voice, the Goodreads page is a great place to say so.

(Also, a tiny teaser for coming news: watch this space for announcements about a major foreign-language translation of one of my stories, and a collaboration I’m particularly psyched about…)

  1. Just read The Liar and I HIGHLY recommend it! In fact, the story sent me here to the web to learn more about you. The editor of F&SF’s brief description of your story was right-on. I intend to read much more of your work, and I thank you for sharing this delightful story with us! (FYI—I’ve been a subscriber of The Mag of F&SF for over 50 years.)

same as Julie I liked the story so much that I decided to look you up. Great main character and an overall enjoyable read. I hope to read more from you in the future!

  3. Seems like I wasn’t the only one who so enjoyed your story in F&SF that I had to look you up. Congrats on a great story, John. I look forward to reading more by you.
